Milos
Milos is located in the south-western end of Cyclades and has an area of 151 km2. The western part of the island is included in the NATURA 2000 network (code GR 4220020, PROFITIS ILIAS – EYRYTERI PERIOCHI).
Coastal dunes with Juniperus oxycedrus subsp. macrocarpa and Juniperus phoenicea (priority habitat 2250*) can be found in the north and southwestern parts of the island, other characteristics species such as carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua) and mastic (Pistacia lendiscus) trees can be found in the habitat. Threats affecting this priority habitat in Milos arise from unsustainable management practices such as road constructions, extensive agriculture and the introduction of invasive species such as Oxalis pes-caprae.
