C1. On site habitat demarcation
The purpose of this action is to demarcate the on site boundaries of the habitats in all Cretan sites. The exact habitat boundaries will be determined and specified through actions A.4 and A.8.
The demarcation of each habitat boundaries will take place following the completion and according to the specifications (action A.8) using “soft-fencing” material (e.g. wooden posts and cordons). Special attention will be given to ensure that the aesthetic values of the sites are not degraded as well as communication of ecosystem biotic and abiotic components are not hindered. Moreover, the social accessibility and subsequently, the long term sustainability of this action, will be ascertained through the stakeholder consultations (action A.6). It is envisaged that the Forest Directorates of Chania and Lasithi will maintain the fencing after the end of the project.
