A8. Target habitat protection and restoration specifications

The purpose of this action is to propose protection and restoration specifications for the habitat 2250* in the Natura 2000 sites of Crete. The specifications will be developed based on the integration of the results of actions A.1, A.2, A.3, A.4, A.5, and A.6 at the end of the first year of the project and will guide the implementation of all the concrete conservation actions. The specifications will be site-specific, according to the habitat attributes, identified problems and pressures at each site and will be provided in a comprehensive form in order to be easily applicable, evaluated and amendable.

The specifications will include:

  • Description of the desired state and area of the habitat
  • Reasoning and specific target of conservation actions
  • Technical description of conservation actions, including level, type and location of interventions
  • Description of the human and natural factors influencing restoration
  • Procedures for the evaluation of the conservation actions
  • Specification of requirements to ensure the long-term sustainability of the conservation actions.

This Action is completed. See the deliverable of this action below.
