A7. Monitoring protocols and selection of indicators

The purpose of this action is to develop long term monitoring protocols which will enable the evaluation of the effectiveness of the concrete conservation actions as compared to the initial situation, objectives and expected results.

A key point of effectiveness evaluation is the necessity of establishing a comparison condition against which outcome information can be judged. Importantly, there are no standardized monitoring methods/ protocols to monitor coastal dune with Juniperus spp habitats neither appropriate baseline data available for the sites on which to base the effectiveness evaluation strategy.

Therefore, this action proposes a review of existing generic monitoring protocols and the subsequent establishment of habitat specific monitoring protocols. These new protocols will be developed after baseline data has been collected through other preparatory actions (A.1, A.2, A.3, A.4, A.5, A.6) and appropriate, cost effective data collection methods have been established, which will be monitored at specified periods throughout the project under the monitoring action.

This Action is completed, see the deliverables of  this action below.
